The trailer for “Green Lantern: Beware My Power” popped up on our radar yesterday and it looks interesting. I have an issue with Warner Bros. / DC’s straight-to-video projects that can’t embrace that there can be multiple Green Lanterns that can exist at the same time. The John Stewart / Hal Jordan dynamic has charm and several learning moments. Through John, if you have any empathy at all, we learn about a different viewpoint and the daily struggle of being a person of color. Depending on the writer, it informs who the character is and gives us a totally unique GL. In the trailer, we learn that Hal has been killed in the line of duty. It sort of seems like Oliver Queen will be “training” him on how to use his new powers since Ollie was the closest to Hal. That is an interesting wrinkle in the old plot.
