First I need to preface this with the declaration than I am not a Venom fan. I liked how the symbiotic suit that Peter had been wearing back in the late 80’s turned on him and joined with Eddie Brock. If that doesn’t date my referential knowledge of the character, I don’t know what else could. I am a bit familiar that the symbiote joined with Flash Thompson but that is about it. Heck, as a collector, I’ve had Venom comics but I never bothered reading them.

Now that we all know where I stand, we can move forward.

I don’t know what possessed me to read this one, but I am so happy that I did. It had just enough exposition to make me feel like I was enough in the loop so I could just enjoy the story. As I flipped through this story I really got into the relationship about how Eddie is connected within the hive mind. No spoilers so I won’t get into details, but there was some stuff that was pretty epic and on a cosmic scale that I wasn’t expecting out of a book that I believed to be about a semi Horror based anti-hero. I mean, there is a multiversal level event being prepped, and I am here for it. Also, I was happy to see that the creators gave a bit of a nod to Todd McFarlane in some of the final panels.
The Final Chapter in the Book of VENOM by Donny Cates & Ryan Stegman! This is it, Venomaniacs! The landmark 200th issue starring the most sinister symbiote in the Marvel Universe arrives – and after this, NOTHING WILL BE THE SAME! From Donny Cates, Ryan Stegman, and a who’s who of artists from the issues that tore Eddie Brock’s life asunder and brought the KING IN BLACK to Earth, comes the first chapter of the rest of Venom’s life. But in Knull’s wake, what even remains of the Lethal Protector?

This book was full of, flashbacks, guest stars, meetings, family dynamics, school drama, a unique lunch, some café conversation, brutal fights, and ultimate intrigues.
I’ll reread this one and perhaps pick up a few issues prior to it.
