I just watched X-Men: Dark Phoenix. I cut my teeth on the Dark Phoenix saga when I was a youngling. It was an amazing experience. The story is still just as strong today as it was when it was first told.
As an original fan of Claremont and Byrne’s seminole epic tale of Jean Gray’s rise to power, fall, redemption and self sacrifice, I have but one thing to say about this re-envisioning of the tale…
I didn’t hate it.
I actually enjoyed the movie. Long ago I made peace with the fact that we would never see any accurate adaptations of classic stories from the comics. Heck, I don’t think we ever got a 100% faithful re-telling of a Greek myth. In some cases we have gotten stories that are better than anything I read in the comics… as an old school Guardians of the Galaxy fan I can say that.
Enjoy the movies and TV shows for what they are. Pick something that you like about them and talk about that. If you find yourself complaining about everything you see… stop going out to see them.
