Toys from any time before the year 1990, are a pretty safe bet to do well with. Depending on the line, you don’t want to spend much on certain things. The chances you will see any of these in a thrift store are pretty low these days, but you never know.
Fisher-Price Little People from the 1970s. These average about to be about 2 inches tall.
Fisher-Price Adventure People from the 1970s. These are usually around 3¾ inches in height.
Mego Micronauts from the 1970s. For the most part, the figures are 3¾ inches but some of the others can run up to 10 inches.
Mego Action Figures from the 1970s. These figures are all 8 inches tall. Sometimes they are missing everything, so they appear nude… those are still worth a bit depending on what character you find.
Mattel’s Masters of the Universe (a.k.a. He-Man) from the 1980s. These are all 5½ tall. There are knock-off figures that look very similar and those can often be as valuable if not MORE valuable than the real figures by Mattel.
Mattel’s Shogun Warriors from the 1970s. These range from 3 inches tall all the way to 24 inches. The big ones are made from blow-molded plastic and feel hollow. The smaller robots are made from Die-Cast metal. The two monsters the one with wings and the one that looks like Godzilla, are both made from a harder plastic, and are a bit more brittle.
Kenner Star Wars from the 1970s and 1980s. These are usually around 3¾ inches in height. There are re-issues of these from the last few years. Just look on the back of the legs for the dates.
Kenner Super Powers 1980s. These figures are about 4 inches tall. Robin and the Penguin are the most common of these.
Mattel’s Secret Wars from the 1980s. These figures are about 4½ inches tall.
Mattel’s Flash Gordon from the 1970s. These are 3¾ inches in height.
Hasbro G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero 1980s. These are 3¾ inches in height.
