Martian Dust Devil

Martian Dust Devil

Hey, did you see the cool video of a dust devil on Mars? It was taken by NASA’s Perseverance rover on Aug. 30, 2023. The rover was checking out the weather in Jezero Crater, where it’s looking for signs of ancient life. The dust devil was about 2.5 miles away and 200 feet wide. It was moving at 12 mph and casting a long shadow. Scientists think it was about 1.2 miles tall, but they couldn’t see the top. Dust devils are like mini tornadoes that happen when warm and cool air mix. They are common on Mars and help move dust around the planet. Pretty neat, huh?
