Western Tokusatsu: Guyver Dark Hero

Are you a fan of sci-fi action movies with a dark twist? If so, you might want to check out Guyver: Dark Hero, a 1994 film based on the manga and anime series Bio Booster Armor Guyver. In this sequel to the 1991 film The Guyver, we follow Sean Barker, a young man who is bonded with an alien bio-armor called the Guyver. Sean is haunted by visions of an ancient alien ship and decides to join an archaeological dig in Utah, where he hopes to find answers about his origin and destiny. But he soon discovers that he is not the only one interested in the ship, as a sinister organization called Cronos is also after its secrets. Cronos has created monstrous creatures called Zoanoids, who can transform into powerful beasts at will. Sean must use his Guyver abilities to fight against Cronos and their Zoanoid army, while also dealing with his own inner conflict and the Guyver’s violent urges.

Western Tokusatsu: Guyver Dark Hero

Guyver: Dark Hero is a low-budget film that was released direct-to-video in the US, but it has gained a cult following among fans of the manga and anime. The film is much darker and more faithful to the source material than its predecessor, featuring more action, horror, and gore. The film also stars David Hayter, who would later become famous for voicing Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid video game series. The film’s special effects and costumes are impressive for its time and budget, especially the Guyver suit and the Zoanoid designs. The film also has a catchy soundtrack by Les Claypool III, who composed music for several other sci-fi and horror films.

If you are looking for a fun and thrilling sci-fi adventure with a touch of horror, you should give Guyver: Dark Hero a try. You can watch it on Prime Video or rent/buy it from other online platforms. I’m a fan of this one, are you? Let me know in the comments.
