Space Rangers (1993)

In 1993, there was a sci-fi TV series called “Space Rangers” that aired on CBS for only one season. Well… if you can say six episodes was a “season”. It’s really not a bad show and I rather enjoyed it.

Space Rangers was set in the year 2104 and followed the adventures of a group of Space Rangers tasked with maintaining law and order in a newly colonized sector of space known as the “Frontier.” The rangers were a diverse group of characters with unique skills and personalities, including a former marine, a cyborg, and an alien diplomat.

The show combined elements of space opera, westerns, and police procedurals, with each episode featuring a self-contained story that often involved the rangers facing off against various alien threats or dealing with internal conflicts.

Despite its promising premise and solid production values, the show failed to find an audience and was cancelled after only six episodes. However, it has since gained a cult following among sci-fi fans for its unique blend of genres and its memorable characters.

Captain John Boon – A former Marine and the leader of the Space Rangers. Boon is a no-nonsense, by-the-book type who takes his duties very seriously. He’s a skilled fighter and strategist, but he’s also haunted by a tragic past.

Jojo Thorsen – A tough and independent pilot with a rebellious streak. Jojo is often at odds with Boon due to their different approaches to leadership, but she’s a valuable member of the team and is always willing to take risks to get the job done.

Zylyn – A humanoid alien and the team’s diplomat. Zylyn has a deep knowledge of intergalactic politics and cultures, but he’s often frustrated by the other rangers’ lack of understanding and respect for his people.

Doc Kreuger – The team’s cyborg medical officer and resident conspiracy theorist. Doc is often skeptical of authority and has a tendency to see conspiracies and hidden agendas everywhere.

Daniel Kincaid – A young and inexperienced ranger who is eager to prove himself. Chennault is a bit of a loose cannon, but he’s loyal to the team and has a strong sense of justice.

Cmdr. Chennault – The team’s commanding officer.

Together, this diverse group of characters must work together to protect the Frontier from various threats and challenges, both internal and external.
