A show that many PBS watchers in the late 70s to mid 80s while waiting for, or just after Doctor Who was “Are You Being Served?”. The program is a classic British television sitcom that originally aired from 1972 to 1985. The show is set in the fictional London department store, Grace Brothers, and follows the antics of the staff who work in the clothing and accessories department, as well as other departments within the store.
The show features a cast of memorable characters, including Mr. Humphries, Mrs. Slocombe, Captain Peacock, and Mr. Grainger, among others. The show’s humor is often based on the interactions and misunderstandings between the characters, as well as their various quirks and eccentricities.

“Are You Being Served?” has become a cultural icon in the UK and has been broadcast in many countries around the world. The show has also spawned a number of spin-offs, including a sequel series, a stage show, and a feature film.
My time spent with the show ended when I began collecting the rather expensive VHS tapes of Doctor Who in the late 1980s. I am watching the program on YouTube right now and enjoying it again after all these years.

This along with MASH was a show that I enjoyed as a kid for reasons that are inexplicable. I was too young to get any of the jokes but I watched it all the same. I enjoyed it when I went back and watched it as an adult, still have no idea why I I loved it as a kid.
