This story is the last in the issue and is perhaps the most poignant short story that I’ve ever read in a comic book. More than a simple allegorical tale, it looks toward a future that we have yet to attain. Just as we thought we were making progress; more ugly individuals are emboldened to crawl out from under their rocks. Ignorance breeds ignorance, now that ignorance is worn as a point of pride… it’s sad, really. Anyhow, enjoy this wonderful story by Joe Orlando from 1953.

It’s a bit heavy-handed from a modern perspective, but definitely groundbreaking for the time. I love the EC sci-fi stuff so much! Typically their horror comics get more praise but I think the sci-fi is where they really did their best.
