Gold Key Comics’ Magnus Robot Fighter 4000 A.D.

There are a handful of archetypical superheroes that are not a part of any pantheon of well-known and highly marketed brands. They’ve come from companies such as Dell and Gold Key. These two were prolific in their time. They populated many a quarter bin boxes when I was new to the collecting game in the late 1970s. One of the heroes that is often re-visited, yet never quite catches on with the wider public market… Magnus Robot Fighter 4000 A.D. (C.E.). There are two sides to how I fell about this. The first is that it is sad that the character is still obscure and virtually unknown outside of an older comic book community. The second is that the obscurity of the character makes him even more special. Not everything needs a movie, cartoon, toy line, or even a current ongoing series. I will err on the side of the later… we have more than enough of the former. If you are a Magnus fan, then know that our numbers are small and that just makes the character even more special.
