In case you were asking yourself just who this character is that John Cena is going to be portraying in the new Suicide Squad movie, and apparently also a new HBO series, here is the short of it. The original Peacemaker first appeared in Fightin’ 5 #40 (November 1966) and was created by writer Joe Gill and artist Pat Boyette. The Peacemaker is Christopher Smith, a pacifist diplomat so committed to peace that he was willing to use force as a superhero to advance the cause. He uses an array of non-lethal weapons in his constant fight for peace. Eventually Smith learns that his peace-through-violence crusade was the result of a mental condition brought on by his deep personal shame of having a Nazi concentration camp commandant for a father. He strives to make up for this in the only way he knows how… by making peace.

While I am not a huge fan of the character, even less his design, I will be catching this when I can… probably not directly from HBO though.
