50 Years Ago, Today… Doctor Multiverse Began

When I was a kid, 50 seemed like an age reserved for ancients, and the wise. While there are times when I feel ancient, I in no way feel wise. Compared to when I was younger, the far flung future of 2020 seems like some bad Science Fiction flick with several b-plots that are just insult to injury to the main issue of the day. There are a few things that I would wish for, if wishing was actually some sort of action, and none of those things would be just for me at this point.

Living in the past is something that I love to do, more so now more than ever. Nostalgia has always been my happy place, but not at the expense of new experiences. New stuff is great too. I the absence of being able to go out and experience the new, I look back on some of my happier moments from my childhood.

  1. Happy birthday, old man… Just kidding about the “old man” part. I am going to be 44 years old next month, so I totally get where you are coming from.

I really try to avoid nostalgia. Every era has its problems. I think many people who yearn for “the good old days” fail to realize that back during their childhoods they simply were not aware of all the difficult issues that were actually facing the adult world. I certainly don’t look back on my childhood as “the good old days.” I mean, Ronald Reagan was President! Not so good, to say the least!
