Spider-Man: The Animated Series (1994)

post_spiderman-1994

While the 1994 animated Spider-Man isn’t my favorite version of the character, it really encapsulated what it is to be Peter Parker. The stories were solid, even though the designs were simplified for a lower budget animated show. I fired the first episode up this morning and was moved by how well it served up the essence of the Friendly Neighborhood Web Head.

The rest of the Marvel Universe, well some of it, is acknowledged, although some of it is a bit too WRONG for my taste… I’m looking at you Captain America episodes. I can forgive the flaws, for the most part. The show does succeed in taking, at that time, over 30 years of stories and making 4 years of episodes out of them.

It’s a solid show, so if you haven’t given it a go, take my word for it and give it a watch. You won’t regret it.

So what IS my favorite animated Spider-Man, you may ask? That’s best left for another conversation, at another time, in another post 😺
